Why I built it
KiwiSubs started with a simple frustration. As a broke student, I was sick of paying $21 a month for Spotify Premium. I knew splitting a Family plan was far cheaper, but I didn't have a group of friends lined up who wanted to do the same.
The services that offered this were all based in the US or Europe and never worked properly for New Zealand. So I built the thing I wished existed.
What KiwiSubs is
KiwiSubs is a New Zealand marketplace for sharing group subscription plans. Someone with spare seats on a plan lists them, and you join for a fraction of the full price. We're starting with Spotify Premium and adding more services over time.
Why New Zealand only
Family plans are meant for people in the same country, and sharing across borders (VPNs, overseas accounts and the like) risks getting your account banned. KiwiSubs keeps everything local and above board, so you save money without worrying about it getting shut down.
Fair and upfront
Hosts earn back most of what their plan costs them, and joiners pay well under the solo price. KiwiSubs keeps a small margin to cover payment processing and keep the platform running, and that's it. There are no hidden fees, and feel free to cancel anytime.
Safe by design
Every payment runs through Stripe, one of the most trusted names in payments, so your card details never touch us. And hosts verify their identity before they can be paid.
